The new Palmer Museum of Art at the Arboretum is a priority for Penn State, and with the support of the Board of Trustees, the University will be investing heavily to bring it to fruition. The University’s estimated budget for the project is $85 million, including $22 million in philanthropic support. Having nearly reached our goal to support construction, our focus now is to raise funds to support operations in the new museum—to enhance exhibitions, education programs, and outreach activities that will allow the staff of the Palmer to make the most of the expanded facility.

When complete, this new building will dramatically enhance the Palmer Museum’s capacity to offer educational and enrichment opportunities for visitors of all ages. Truly a museum of the twenty-first century, it will give today’s students and patrons powerful new ways to experience art. The new complex will be the only integrated art museum and arboretum among Big Ten institutions and one of the few in the nation, and it is likely to draw 200,000 visitors per year or more.

We invite support from donors who share our belief that art and nature are as important in the world today as they have ever been: they offer pathways to reflection and communication about fundamental values, encourage creativity and flexibility in thinking about complex problems, and, above all, enrich the human spirit.

Penn State’s new Palmer Museum of Art presents an excellent philanthropic opportunity for alumni and friends who wish to join our institution in investing in the power of art, nature, and education to transform lives and communities. Now is the moment to lead the way in supporting Penn State’s new Palmer Museum of Art at the Arboretum.

Naming opportunities and various levels of recognition for major gifts are available for donors who wish to contribute. To discuss options to support the new museum, please contact:
